    Job Title: Receiver

    Job Description

    The receiver will be responsible for preparing materials for shipping, including sealing, labeling, and affixing postage, utilizing various tools and devices. This role involves coordinating with carrier representatives for shipment and delivery instructions and maintaining accurate records of shipment data for reporting and accounting purposes.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, and a postage meter.

    + Coordinate with carrier representatives for shipping and delivery instructions.

    + Record shipment data such as weight, charges, and any discrepancies.

    + Calculate space availability and shipping, storage, and demurrage charges.

    + Assist in loading and unloading L&S and freight trucks.

    + Organize and maintain the inter-shop shipping area.

    + Ensure shipments are organized and ready in a timely manner.

    + Follow all applicable work instructions.

    + Perform vehicle maintenance, including forklift care.

    + Receive new products and repair stock using the computer system.

    + Print new product orders on the computer system.

    + Process all incoming and outgoing UPS, FedEx, and freight carrier shipments.

    + Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the building and surrounding grounds.

    + Perform additional activities as directed by the supervisor.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in shipping and receiving.

    + Proficiency with logistics, reach trucks, and forklifts.

    + Ability to operate picker and packing equipment.

    + Experience printing FedEx and UPS labels.

    + Familiarity with material handling equipment.

    + Experience in a large distribution environment.

    + Computer literacy.

    + Experience performing cycle counts.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Preferred experience with a variety of material handling equipment.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is a very large, fast-paced warehouse over 220,000 square feet with more than 25 bay doors. The warehouse is organized into sections with floor-to-ceiling racks and a wire room, maintaining a clean and orderly space. Employees are expected to help keep the workspace organized and clean. Work hours are from 7 am until tasks are completed, ensuring flexibility in scheduling.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
