Posting Summary
Key leader for the onboarding and orientation efforts of the university. Responsible for the comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of New Student Orientation, including August programs for approximately 3,300 incoming undergraduate students and their families, and January programs for approximately 300 students. Reporting to the Director of Orientation and Student Advancement, provide strategic leadership for orientation initiatives, supervises professional and student staff, and collaborates with campus partners to deliver inclusive, student-centered programs that foster belonging, engagement, and success from orientation through graduation. In partnership with campus stakeholders, support retention and persistence efforts by designing transitional programming and engagement strategies beyond orientation that address the needs of diverse student populations.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
+ Bachelor’s degree
+ 4–6 years of progressively responsible experience in orientation, student transition programs, student engagement, or a related area within higher education.
+ At least 2 years of direct experience planning and executing large-scale programs or events in a college/university setting.
+ Experience with supervising, training, and supporting student employees or professional staff.
+ Demonstrated development of cross-campus collaboration and partnership, particularly with academic affairs, student services, and administrative units.
+ Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop content for presentations, websites, and print materials.
+ Experience working with diverse student populations and a demonstrated commitment to advancing inclusion and belonging.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and comfort learning new systems and technology tools.
Desirable Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, or a closely related field.
+ Familiarity with student development theory, especially related to first-year, transfer, commuter, international, and first-generation college students.
+ Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Slate), student success platforms (e.g., Navigate), or other higher education software tools for communication, event management, or data tracking.
+ Experience developing onboarding programs that address student persistence, belonging, and institutional retention goals.
+ Demonstrated success leading or supporting programs that serve underrepresented or historically marginalized students.
Anticipated Pay Range 68,000-69,000
Other Information
Special Conditions External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Bargaining unit position, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Background Check required for this position, A probationary period may be required
