Job Title: Machine Operator Assistant

Job Description

Assist machine operators in setting up and operating production equipment, monitor machines during operation to ensure consistent quality and output, load raw materials and remove finished products from production lines, perform routine cleaning and maintenance of machinery, inspect products for defects and report issues to supervisors, maintain accurate production records and follow safety protocols, and support other production tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

+ Operate machines, including extruders, laminating, press, and slitter machines.

+ Ensure the production of products and services meets or exceeds customer expectations.

+ Perform preventative maintenance on machines.

+ Handle raw materials and finished products efficiently.

+ Conduct inspections and report any defects or issues.

+ Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

+ Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals.

Essential Skills

+ Former industrial experience.

+ Knowledge of machinery functions.

+ Basic computer and math skills.

+ Forklift and clamp truck operations (training provided).

+ Proficient in communicating in English (both verbal and written).

+ Ability to work well in a team environment.

+ Capability of lifting approximately 50 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in machine operating, assembly, general labor, and production.

+ Familiarity with hand tools, mechanical skills, packing, picking, and using an RF scanner.

+ Manufacturing experience as an assistant/helper.

Work Environment

The work environment involves machine and forklift operating in a hot, loud setting due to rewind machines. Candidates will be cross-trained on multiple machines. The company offers 2nd and 3rd shift opportunities, with most 3rd shift positions running 12-hour shifts. 2nd shift hours are 3pm-11pm, and 3rd shift hours are 11pm-7am or 12am-8am, with shifts running from Sunday to Thursday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Doswell, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00/hr.
