Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting practices within our organization. Based in Marin County, California, this role requires a proactive leader who can manage financial reporting, streamline processes, and provide strategic insights to support business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, coupled with a proven track record of success in leadership roles.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.

• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture focused on precision, efficiency, and growth.

• Collaborate with external auditors and financial institutions to ensure smooth audit processes and maintain strong relationships.

• Design and implement improved accounting procedures and systems to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.

• Manage cash flow and liquidity to support the organization’s financial stability and operational requirements.

• Monitor profitability benchmarks and contribution margins across departments, ensuring alignment with company goals.

• Partner with operations teams and category managers to provide actionable insights that drive promotional and assortment strategies.

• Develop and distribute performance reports to key stakeholders, highlighting trends and opportunities for strategic decision-making.

• Analyze pricing, cost structures, and margins to ensure targets are met and financial expectations are achieved.

• Present financial findings and strategic recommendations to the executive team in a clear and impactful manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles.

• At least 3-5 years of experience in a leadership capacity.

• Expertise in financial modeling and data analysis, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with business intelligence tools and enterprise resource planning systems.

• Strong knowledge of pricing analysis, cost management, and product development processes.

• Proven ability to manage cash flow and implement effective internal controls.

• Experience in preparing for audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

CPA or MBA strongly preferred
