The University of Miami UHealth Department of Urology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Sr. Financial Assistant (H) in Miami. The incumbent prepares financial reports, proposals, and presentations, and works with internal and external sources to ensure accuracy of the University’s fiscal records. Moreover, the incumbent ensures proper operational and business trend analysis and supports management in developing financial analysis, reporting, estimation, budgeting, as well as a variety of clerical functions and office support activities for the assigned department(s) to facilitate the efficient operations of the office.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Provides administrative support such as coordinating meetings, scheduling conference calls, compiling information, processing documentation, faxing, maintaining supplies, and sending general correspondence.
+ Supports department and/or department leadership with daily clerical tasks.
+ Tracks finance data relevant to month-end reporting requirements, including collaborating with the departments to facilitate month-end variance reporting.
+ Responds to questions and information requests of customers, senior staff, and employees.
+ Assists in tracking budget variances within the assigned division(s) by collecting relevant data.
+ Analyzes contracts and trade ledger accounts and maintains financial sub-ledger billing codes.
+ Responds to internal and external audit inquiries.
+ Makes recommendations to management and identifies training needs.
+ Provides guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff members to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
Medication Coordination
+ Work with specialty pharmacies and pharmaceutical vendors to order medications and obtain authorizations.
+ Coordinate delivery of specialty medications.
+ Align patient visits with medication delivery by communicating with patients, providers, and clinical/administrative staff.
+ Update medication lists to reflect received and administered medications.
+ Reconcile medication inventory logs and ensure accurate billing.
+ Order supplies and medications; manage inventory levels.
Patient & Provider Support
+ Respond to patient calls and online messages; assist in resolving issues.
+ Obtain authorization for medical procedures.
+ Appeal insurance denials and schedule peer-to-peer reviews when necessary.
Financial Operations
+ Obtain and review vendor invoices; identify and resolve discrepancies.
+ Process and post financial transactions (e.g., invoices, payments, receipts).
+ May assist with billing inquiries and insurance follow-ups.
Administrative & Project Support
+ Assist department leaders with assigned projects and initiatives.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
+ Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
+ Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
+ Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
+ Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
+ Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
+ Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
+ Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
+ Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
