Senior Accountant– Fund & Property Accounting

A prestigious private real estate investment firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its San Francisco office. This is a high-impact opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with fund and property-level accounting experience to contribute to a growing team managing complex real estate investments.

About the Role

In this role, you’ll work closely with the CFO and external fund administrators to oversee fund and property-level accounting, financial reporting, valuations, and investor communications. The firm invests across a diverse range of real estate asset classes and structures, offering exposure to institutional, family office, and ultra-high-net-worth investors.

Key Responsibilities

+ Review monthly operating reports, variance analyses, and property-level cash flows

+ Lead quarterly investor reporting, waterfall calculations, and fund allocations

+ Prepare fund and property performance metrics and financial projections

+ Support quarterly valuation processes and SEC compliance filings

+ Manage capital calls, distributions, and carry calculations

+ Coordinate year-end audits and tax return preparation

+ Interface with operating partners and respond to investor and compliance inquiries

+ Assist with credit facility servicing and ad hoc financial analysis

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated accounting professional who brings precision, initiative, and a strong foundation in fund and property-level accounting. The ideal candidate will have:

+ A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

+ 3–6 years of fund accounting experience, ideally within real estate investment

+ Solid understanding of GAAP and fair value accounting principles

+ Familiarity with tax reporting and regulatory compliance

+ Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and a comfort with adopting new financial systems

+ Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills

+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a lean, high-performing team
