Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team in Metairie, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to grow within a dynamic and supportive environment. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth operations in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounts payable by matching invoices to purchase orders, ensuring proper classification, and maintaining vendor files.

• Manage accounts receivable functions, including applying cash receipts, preparing invoices, and assisting with collections of overdue balances.

• Perform general ledger reconciliations, assist with month-end closing activities, and support ad hoc accounting projects.

• Review and correct financial transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

• Code and classify expenditures and accounting entries, requiring attention to detail and knowledge of proper classifications.

• Prepare financial reports and statements using data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Post financial transactions to appropriate journals, registers, and ledgers using manual or electronic systems.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts, reconstructing actions and preparing correction documents as needed.

• Monitor budgets and assist with adjustments and transfers to maintain budgetary control.

• Support special projects and perform additional duties as required to enhance departmental efficiency.

Requirements • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Sage 100 is highly desirable.

• Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles.

• Experience with bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and invoice processing.

• Entry-level candidates will be considered, provided they demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to maintaining financial integrity.
