The City of Lenexa is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Dive Coach for the Lenexa Lazers team within the Parks and Recreation Department. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable coaching, teamwork, and leadership skills while serving the community primarily at Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center (8801 Greenway Lane).
Hiring Timeline:
Applications are currently being accepted. Interviews will be held throughout January and February, with final hiring decisions made no later than March.
Schedule: The Lazer Swim and Dive Season runs from mid-May through mid-July.
+ Monday-Friday: Morning practices
+ Tuesday evenings for dive meets
Position Summary:
The Assistant Dive Coach supports the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and meets, demonstrating techniques, analyzing performance, and instructing participants. This role involves teaching dive fundamentals, assisting with meet preparation, monitoring participant safety, and fostering a positive team environment. The Assistant Dive Coach is expected to model strong customer service, maintain safety and cleanliness standards, and ensure all activities align with City and team expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Must be at least 16 years of age.
+ Previous competitive dive experience required.
+ CPR/AED certification from a nationally recognized agency, or ability to complete CPR course through the City of Lenexa.
Starting Rate of Pay is $16.50 per hour with annual raises.
Environmental and Physical Factors: Work is performed in and around aquatic facilities with frequent exposure to sun, wind, heat, humidity, weather conditions, and noise typical of a pool environment. Duties require standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, reaching with hands and arms, and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have good manual dexterity, body flexibility, multi-limb coordination, and visual acuity.
Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
