Description We are looking for a highly detail-oriented Trust Tax Coordinator to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing trust tax processes and ensuring compliance with tax regulations for various accounts, including Qualified Settlement Funds. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in trust accounting and taxation, who can collaborate with external firms and financial advisors to ensure accurate and timely filings.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review trust tax returns, including Form 1041s, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in K-1 forms, verifying values and correcting errors.
• Coordinate year-end closing activities within the trust accounting system.
• Identify and monitor transactions for proper 1099 reporting.
• Organize tax worksheets and supporting documentation for external tax preparers.
• Assist in setting up new trust accounts and ensuring proper documentation.
• Collaborate with external firms, such as Ernst & Young, and financial advisors to facilitate tax-related processes.
• Review sensitive returns for accuracy and completeness before submission.
• Provide general support for trust and wealth management coordination efforts.
• Work closely with the Trust Accountant to manage trust accounts effectively. Requirements • Proven experience in trust accounting and taxation.
• Strong familiarity with trust tax returns, including Form 1041s, and Settlement Funds.
• Knowledge of K-1 and 1099 forms, with the ability to address discrepancies and ensure proper reporting.
• Proficiency in using tax-related software such as InnoTrust, Excel, and One Source.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with external firms and financial advisors.
• Previous experience managing sensitive tax filings and supporting wealth management services.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple accounts and deadlines.
