    Assistant Fund Controller

    About the Role

     

    As the Assistant Fund Controller, you’ll be a key player in the finance team, working closely with the Principal of Finance, CFO, fund administrators, and portfolio company stakeholders. This position is ideal for someone with a blend of public and private accounting experience—particularly in VC or PE environments—who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Oversee and review the work of outsourced fund administrators.

    + Maintain general ledgers and manage monthly close processes, including reconciliations of bank, intercompany, investment, and partners’ capital accounts.

    + Prepare financial statements and quarterly investor reporting packages, including allocations and investment roll forwards.

    + Support quarterly valuations, annual audits, and tax-related reviews (K-1s, Forms 1042/8804, federal/state filings).

    + Manage capital calls and distributions.

    + Assist with SEC compliance and regulatory reporting.

    + Partner with FP& A on portfolio dashboards and strategic initiatives.

    + Two Assistant Controllers

    + Corporate Finance Staff: Controller, Staff Accountant, Benefits/Payroll Manager

    Requirements

    Ideal Candidate Profile

     

    We’re looking for a finance professional with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate brings:

     

    + 4–7+ years of accounting experience, ideally a blend of Big 4 audit and in-house fund accounting.

    + Private equity or venture capital fund experience, including working with fund administrators and multiple external partners.

    + Familiarity with complex fund structures and transactions, such as dividend recapitalizations.

    + CPA designation preferred; strong command of U.S. GAAP is essential.

    + A confident communicator who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and thrives in a team-first environment.

    + A knack for process improvement and optimizing reporting systems.

    + Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial software tools.
