    Overview

     

    The data scientist will be instrumental in advancing the capabilities of the Paychex software suite. This role involves designing and implementing sophisticated machine learning models to enhance user experience, streamline company operations, and provide value to both internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will collaborate closely with infrastructure, software, and technology teams to seamlessly integrate predictive models into applications, utilizing cutting-edge data-centric methodologies.

    Responsibilities

    + Develop and implement predictive models across various departments, including Product and IT, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Risk Management, and HR, to extract value from data.

    + Collaborate with infrastructure and architecture teams to seamlessly deploy models and predictive services into the existing technology stack.

    + Integrate state-of-the-art embeddings and large language models into existing software applications, enhancing their functionality and user interaction through the application of advanced natural language processing techniques.

    + Utilize advanced Python functionalities to perform data engineering tasks, model development, and automation of processes.

    + Stay informed about the latest advancements in machine learning and AI and apply this knowledge to generate innovative ideas for practical model development and R&D projects.

    + Work closely with business partners to understand their needs and priorities, delivering analytical solutions that address specific business challenges.

    + Regularly analyze and validate the performance of deployed models, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.

    + Extract and organize data from internal systems to support comprehensive modeling applications and analyses.

    + Provide expert consultation to internal stakeholders on model development, risk management, and the application of advanced analytics for new and existing opportunities.

    + Create custom systems to assess and monitor the effectiveness of newly developed and existing models.

    + Ensure the quality and organization of data, optimizing data storage and design to facilitate effective model development and reporting processes.

    Qualifications

    + 3 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI.

    + Demonstrated programming skills, particularly in Python, and familiarity with SQL.

    + Proficiency in training, validating, and deploying machine learning models using tools like Scikit-learn, H2O, Keras or PyTorch.

    + Familiarity with modern orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or Dagster a plus.

    + Familiarity with containers or Docker a plus.

    + Familiarity with Big Data platforms and cloud technologies a plus.

    + Bachelor’s Degree Required – Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent.

    + Master’s Degree in a Relevant Field Preferred

     

    Compensation

     

    In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $95,300 - $149,700. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
