    The Network Operations Center (NOC) Administrator serves as a key member of the NOC team within the Department of Technology. This senior level role is responsible for independently monitoring, analyzing and supporting enterprise infrastructure, application platforms, and wireless services utilizing enterprise-level tools to manage incidents, perform system monitoring, and making sure service level objectives are met. The position also involves collaboration with internal technical teams, external vendors, and departmental stakeholders to ensure timely communication and resolution of IT issues. The NOC Administrator will also contribute to change control processes, documentation, and performance reporting to support operational excellence in a 24x7 environment.

    Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Perform incident management activities.

    + Set up, maintain, and respond to monitors, triggers, alerts, and notifications for all enterprise infrastructure, application platform systems, and wireless services using an enterprise level Network Performance application.

    + Develop and produce performance and SLA reports.

    + Create, track, and implement change controls.

    + Categorize, communicate and escalate issues in accordance with established procedures

    + Assist with basic troubleshooting, configuration, and recovery of NOC infrastructure and application platforms.

    + Document and update activities, incidents, scheduled change control events, calendar updates, and other pertinent information that occur during a shift.

    + Facilitate communications through email, conference calling, mobile and internet-based communications systems.

     

    Education: Requires an associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredit-ed college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least six-ty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].

     

    Experience: Three (3) years of experience performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment.

     

    Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

     

    Completion of a one (1) year State (DAS) Information Technology apprenticeship program equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco's 1090 IT Operations Support Training Program may substitute for the required education.

     

    Desirable Qualifications

     

    + A Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related field.

    + One (1) year of experience in network and infrastructure monitoring tools.

    + One (1) year of experience in SolarWinds monitoring tool.

    + One (1) year of experience with Window Server Administration.

    + Proficient in SolarWinds and Zabbix

    + Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operation Center (NOC) environment.

    + Strong customer service focus and experience in facilitating communication between project teams and clients.

    + Working knowledge and experience with the SolarWinds Monitoring System.

    + Strong oral and written communication experience; able to connect effectively with all levels of technical and non-technical staff.

    + Knowledge of Splunk logs for searching and monitoring.

    + Working knowledge of networking essentials.

    + Working knowledge of ServiceNow incident management tool.

    + Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft O365.

    + Working knowledge and experience with Active Directory.

    + Working knowledge and experience with enterprise networks and the OSI model.

    + Possession of a Valid California Driver’s License.

    Work Schedule: This position may require working non-standard hours, including evenings and nights, based on operational needs. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, and shift assignments may vary accordingly.

     

    Work Location: Incumbent will conduct the majority of work at the Department of Technology, (1 S Van Ness, Ave San Francisco, CA 94103).  However, there may be situations where the incumbent will be required to work at other sites throughout the City of San Francisco as necessary.

     

    Nature of Work: This is a hybrid role requiring on-site work at our San Francisco office as needed. Occasional travel within San Francisco may be required.

     

    Compensation information: $50.85-$ 63.05 (hourly)/ $105,768.00 to 131,144.00 (annually)
