Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. This role requires an individual who is adept at managing and coordinating accounting responsibilities, ensuring adherence to internal controls and accounting policies, and achieving departmental goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Practices to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
+ Manage and coordinate the responsibilities of several coordinator staff to ensure adherence to internal controls and procedural accounting policies.
+ Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Practices to determine accurate accounting.
+ Understand the impact of exchange rates and valuation issues in countries where the companies are incorporated.
+ Identify potential internal control issues and work with Internal Audit for resolution.
+ Review account reconciliations and intercompany transactions and post journal entries prepared by staff.
+ Assist management in analyzing significant Year over Year or Month over Month flux drivers related to P&L and Balance Sheet accounts.
+ Prepare and/or review monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
+ Assist in generating financial schedules, documentation, and items for auditors.
+ Conduct User Acceptance Testing on financial systems or upgrades.
+ Assist in hiring, evaluating performance, and conducting performance reviews for direct reports.
+ Interface with auditors and IT as needed.
+ Recognize and troubleshoot system-related issues, communicating findings to the department analyst.
+ Maintain a systematic record retention system and articulate service, process, and system-related issues to management.
+ Maintain statistical reports that substantiate production volume and department standard service levels.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting from an accredited university.
+ 4-7 years of experience in financial/management reporting and general ledger reconciliation.
+ 3-4 years of accounting practices and supervisory experience.
+ Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to interact with various stakeholders, including principals, operating and administrative staff, attorneys, and accountants.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting financial reports and business documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ CPA/MBA preferred.
+ Efficient time management skills.
+ Working knowledge of IBM AS400 environment and PC-based applications (Excel/Word/Lotus Notes).
+ Familiarity with data extraction techniques such as AS/400 system query.
+ Experience with accounting software.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
