The Inpatient Oncology/Hematology Unit at Rochester General Hospital is an acute medical unit specializing in the care of patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions, gynecological cancers, and palliative care needs. We provide comprehensive, compassionate care for individuals undergoing treatment for cancers such as breast, lung, prostate, gynecologic, and blood-related malignancies, while managing complications like infection, pain, neuropathy, anemia, and chemotherapy-related side effects.
In close collaboration with the Lipson Cancer Center, our patients benefit from access to cutting-edge oncology treatments, clinical trials, and multidisciplinary care from experts in medical and radiation oncology, surgery, and supportive services. Our team is committed to patient-centered, holistic care that addresses both medical and emotional needs, enhancing quality of life throughout every stage of treatment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Educate nursing team on three medical-surgical units on a wide range of topics to ensure up to date, evidence-based practice.
+ Provide real-time support with new hospital initiatives, quality improvement projects, policy changes, troubleshooting, and managing day-to-day inpatient nursing care.
+ Support professional development through coaching, assistance with clinical ladder, and assessing educational needs. Education created and tailored to meet these educational needs to provide effective and individualized teaching.
+ Promote safe and quality patient care, collaborating with front-line staff to determine new initiatives to support exemplary patient care and provide a supportive work environment for all staff.
+ Orientation Management. Develop, organize and deliver all classroom orientation lesson plans; facilitate the orientation process for all new nurses and patient care technicians in acute care area settings; support staff educational needs for emergency response measures
+ Assessment. Provide ongoing educational needs assessment to identify relevant educational activities such as new diagnoses, new equipment, policy and procedure expectations and quality outcome data; assess staff competency levels and facilitate various methods to accomplish competency completion
+ Educational Development. Utilize a variety of learning methods such as PowerPoint presentations, online computer programs, self-learning packets, demo/re-demonstration, simulation training; develop quality educational activities that include all aspects of eligibility for ANCC contact hours, including advertisement, measurable objectives, content outline that is based on current, evidenced-based literature, evaluation and certificate; maintain strict recordkeeping of all educational activities with attendance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
+ Registered Nurse license in New York State.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Excellent leadership and presentation skills
+ Developed basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

$79,560.00 - $109,200.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
