The Role This position is for a Manager Engineer 2 position to support planning and execution of in-service carrier availabilities. The candidate will lead a group of individuals supporting the scheduling of propulsion plant work, advanced planning efforts, on-site technical support and Reactor Department Liaison for both Nimitz and Ford Class carriers. The individual will provide leadership and direction for this team, will be asked to challenge the “status quo” and will establish and execute effective work processes and procedures. The selected candidate will support the development of reports and presentations detailing the products that the Planning Yard will issue and will have responsibility for developing manning plans to support the team. External contacts will include NAVSEA, NNL, Ship’s Force, Carrier Planning Activity, and Naval Shipyard Personnel. Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
