The role is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe and sustainable work environment. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Safety Coordinator (HSE) at GDIT, the work you’ll do will be impactful to the mission of ensuring the safety and well-being of our personnel and the protection of the environment, directly supporting the successful execution of critical projects. You will play a crucial role in preventing workplace incidents, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of safety, contributing to a stable and productive work environment essential for mission success. + Lead/Manage/Support the development and implementation of comprehensive HSE programs, impacting the mission by minimizing disruptions due to incidents, protecting valuable resources, and ensuring regulatory compliance, enabling the team to focus on delivering exceptional results. + Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to integrate safety protocols into all phases of operations, ensuring a proactive and holistic approach to risk management across the project lifecycle. + Drive a continuous improvement mindset within the HSE program identifying areas for enhancement and implementing innovative solutions to address emerging challenges, ultimately resulting in a safer and more efficient work environment. + Utilize your expertise in OSHA standards, risk assessment methodologies, and incident investigation techniques to proactively identify and address potential hazards, safeguarding our employees and protecting the environment. Key Responsibilities + Ensure adherence to all applicable safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NAVSEA and local), by conducting regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, job hazard analysis root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive measures. + Maintain and manage auditable safety programs to include, but not limited to, confined spaces, respiratory protection, hazardous waste, fall protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety and personal protective equipment (PPE). + Investigate and analyze incidents and near misses. Adhere to incident reporting requirements and complete and maintain incident reports. + Utilize safety data to identify trends, prioritize interventions, and measure the effectiveness of safety programs. + Oversee and guide the company’s safety program by creating and managing annual plans for training, assessments, and inspections. Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive safety training for all employees. Conduct new hire orientation and training, with regard to safety policies. + Promote a strong safety culture through collaboration with management and employee engagement and training. Serve as the Point of Contact regarding regulations compliance and safety inspections. + Develop and implement control measures to mitigate risks and prevent workplace incidents. + Engage with employees at all levels to gather feedback and address safety concerns. + Complete other projects, as assigned. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED Bring your HSE expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Safety Coordinator (HSE) must have: + **Education** : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Safety, Environmental Management, or Industrial Hygiene. + **Experience** : 3 to 5 years of experience in related field. + Technical Skills: Strong understanding of OSHA standards and other applicable regulations. Experience conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments. Strong training background in HSE training programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). + **Security clearance level:** Secret security clearance required (or ability to obtain) + **Role requirements:** Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with outside agencies. Strong attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills, and the capacity to handle complex relationships. Must be willing to obtain certifications as required during employment, with occasional travel. On-site position in Bayview, Idaho. Desired Qualifications and Experience + Experience working in an industrial or shipyard environment + OSHA-10 certification for General Industry + OSHA-30 certification for General Industry + Experience with forklifts, personnel lifts, small boats, and cranes + Proficiency in database management. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
