In this **Senior Finance Manager - CoreAI** role, you will drive resource allocation rigor across Microsoft’s $20B+ engineering portfolio, partnering closely with senior leaders to align investments with strategic priorities. You will develop a CFO mindset, influence expense management decisions, and bring innovative solutions to complex challenges in the AI era. Responsibilities Responsibilities Partnership + Collaborate with engineering and finance leaders to provide strategic insights that optimize resource allocation and investment decisions. Offer clear visibility into the current resource landscape, analyze macro-level trends, and apply systems thinking to identify opportunities and recommend actions that support informed, equitable decision-making. + Partner across engineering and finance teams to promote process excellence and continuously assess the overall health of the business. Understand key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and trade-offs, ensuring resources and investments remain aligned with business strategy, product roadmaps, and organizational priorities in an inclusive and transparent manner. + Develop and apply a holistic analytical framework and inclusive best practices across Finance to identify and anticipate trends. Deliver actionable insights that empower teams to make informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and maximize investment efficiency. Prioritization + Deliver insights on business health to stakeholders, driving results through performance management, forecast accuracy, and collaboration with business leaders. Manage and execute finance rhythms—including Close, Forecasts, and reviews for R&D expenditure, headcount, and investments—with clarity and precision. Proactively identify risks and opportunities. + Lead planning and budgeting processes with senior engineering leaders and stakeholders, ensuring targets and budgets are communicated effectively and consistently. + Innovate financial data collection and evaluation methods to influence future decisions. Recognize data interconnections and translate them into proactive narratives and forecasts. Use creative, accessible data presentations to support decision-making and articulate conclusions. Protect + Maintain a comprehensive system of accounting policies, procedures, and controls; evaluate effectiveness and ensure robust financial reporting infrastructure. + Align audit teams and internal stakeholders, reviewing and discussing findings to drive compliance and continuous improvement. + Influence leadership to uphold compliance standards across all financial reporting processes. Other + Embody our culture and values Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications + Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience. + 2+ years work experience with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis) and demonstrated ability to perform accurate financial calculations. Additional or preferred qualifications + Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience. + 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles. + 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization. + 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry. + 2+ years of experience in financial analysis within a technology-driven environment, including building complex financial models, performing scenario analysis, and delivering actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. + 2+ years of experience communicating and presenting financial information to diverse stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to influence outcomes without formal authority, navigate ambiguity, and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, matrixed organization. + 2+ years of experience leveraging advanced technical skills (Excel, Power BI) to simplify complex data. Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
