    Purpose

     

    Reporting to the U.S. Head of Risk Governance and Policy, the Business Analyst will provide support to overseeing Scotiabank U.S. (SBUS) Policy Management program, applying the principles of good governance to the identification, assessment, management, and communication of policy management principles across all operations in the U.S. The Business Analyst also administers the U.S. policy management tool, ensuring effective reporting, quality assurance, and document management.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead project management for data cleanup and enhancement initiatives, including the implementation of AI-driven solutions to strengthen policy oversight. Oversee and contribute to projects related to the Policy Management Tool, encompassing system enhancements, data architecture improvements, extract-transform-load (ETL) pipeline development, and user training.

    • Utilize analytics platforms (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Python) to support policy management reporting.

    • Maintain the U.S. policy management system, including performing user acceptance testing (UAT) for system upgrades or enhancements implemented by the vendor.

    • Conduct user interviews to gather feedback and document business requirements for the Policy Management Tool, with the goal of improving user experience and system functionality. Share findings with the vendor to inform enhancements and actively participate in roadmap planning sessions to align tool development with business needs.

    • Support monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc policy management reporting through system-generated outputs and manual analysis. • Champion a client-centric focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver solutions. Relationship management and cross-collaboration include:

    o Developing and maintaining effective relationships with policy coordinators and departments.

    o Coordinating meetings, training, and document reviews.

    • Assist Policy Document Owners in transferring documents to standardized templates within the policy management tool.

    • Review policy documents for consistency, completeness, and alignment with governance standards.

    • Conduct risk governance research and analysis on priority issues such as Heightened Standards.

    • Identify, consolidate, and document policy management issues, exceptions, and escalations.

    • Support the administration and version control of key governance documents (e.g., SBUS Enterprise Risk Management FRamework, Risk Appetite Statement, Policy of Policies, committee charters) and their subordinate documents.

    What You’ll Bring

    • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (VLOOKUP, formulas).

    • Experience with Visio, JIRA, Clausematch, Power BI, SQL, and API integrations.

    • Ability to create, review, edit, and proofread technical/support documentation.

    • Creative problem-solving and initiative in implementing innovative solutions.

    • Effective time management and prioritization of tasks.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    • Experience in analyst-generated reporting and data visualization (e.g., Power BI).

    • Ability to negotiate and communicate with senior management regarding new ideas and policy recommendations.

    • Able to work effectively in a dynamically changing environment.

    • Ability to work independently within minimal supervision.
