Material Specialist I

System One is seeking a Material Specialist I for a short term contract through the end of the year in Kernersville, NC.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications using fixed or preset measuring instruments. Releases materials to the Product Center. Ensures materials and products meet established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are free from irregularities or damage. Records and maintains control of purchased and produced inventory items. Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures. Performs tasks competently that may impact health and safety in the workplace. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions typically do not require independent judgment.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Performs routine physical receipt inspection and reviews material/product documentation according to inspection test plan requirements; documents inspection results.
+ Releases materials according to established inspection test plans using a specialized manufacturing database.
+ Creates Condition Reports (CRs) for non-conforming material.
+ Moves material to shop floor or inventory; may utilize material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, cranes, etc.
+ Archives quality records in compliance with company policies.
+ Assists with shipping components off-site as needed.
+ Actively participates in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and complies with all applicable safety and health rules.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
+ Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
+ Basic computer skills, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
+ Ability to read technical drawings and understand tolerances.
+ Familiarity with the company’s safety and health policies and programs.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related experience required.
+ Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred.
