Student Financial Aid Specialist HV-NTPI-8148 In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check. Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree with three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting, two (2) years of Financial Aid or Student Accounts experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of relatable experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service skills required. Strong attention to detail; ability to multi-task and manage priorities along with strong computer skills required. Competent with Microsoft applications. Experience with Ellucian Banner System preferred. Nature and Scope of Duties: The Student Financial Aid Specialist will report to an Assistant Director of Student Financial Aid, or their designee and provides support to the Director of Student Financial Aid as needed. The Student Financial Aid Specialist will perform the following duties: 1. Provides individual counseling to students and parents on all aspects of student financial services, including financial aid, billing, payments, and account resolution. 2. Assists with county, state, federal, and institutional aid by reviewing applications, determining eligibility, maintaining records, and ensuring regulatory compliance. 3. Executes daily operations of the front desk, phone lines, and computer lab. 4. Serves as the primary liaison between Student Financial Aid and key departments such as Athletics, EOP, ASAP, and Veterans Resource and Outreach Center. Provides regular updates on student financial status and ensures accurate communication between offices. 5. Conducts financial aid presentations and workshops for students, parents, and community groups on and off campus, including evenings and weekends as needed. 6. Assists students with completing financial aid applications and making payments. Identifies missing documentation and clearly communicates next steps for securing aid and confirming registration. 7. Reviews and processes Certificate of Residence applications to ensure tuition compliance. 8. Works with Assistant and Associate Directors to review and improve policies, procedures, and workflows. Provides feedback on the student financial services experience and helps enhance delivery service. 9. Supports the administration of federal and state grants and loan programs. Assists with the processing and awarding of internal and external scholarships. 10. Provides in-person, phone, and lab assistance to students regarding financial aid applications, student accounts, and troubleshooting. Acts as a point of escalation for conflict resolution when higher-level intervention is required. 11. Assists in reconciling financial aid accounts and funds. Participates in the review of data integrity reports to ensure accuracy and compliance. 12. Performs other related duties as assigned. This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $40,500-$41,500.
