    Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

    Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time progressive professional experience in providing media and information technology support services for at least one of these three areas: conferences, special events or Student Activities (student experience may be considered). Experience with audio visual event production.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience in one or more of the following areas: multimedia presentation systems, Audio Mixing boards, or wireless microphones systems. Experience with Windows and Mac operating Systems including audio drivers and Video Outputs. Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google applications. Experience with Crestron Controllers. Supervisory experience (supervision of students may be considered). Experience working in technical theater. Experience delivering media services in a higher education setting. Experience with technology infrastructure in meeting rooms and event centers.

    Brief Description of Duties:

    Stony Brook University is seeking an experienced Audio Visual & Technology Manager that is a versatile professional responsible for supporting campus events, Campus Life Centers offices, meeting rooms and event space technologies and systems while also managing a student workforce. This role combines technical expertise in audio visual systems and event production with hands-on technology support, asset tracking, and budget management. This position will serve as an audio-visual expert for the Division of Student Affairs. They will be responsible for providing support and scheduling advanced Audio-Visual services for all internal and external events in the Campus Life Centers footprint.

    Events Management & AV Services:

    + Provide outstanding Audio Visual support services for events for the Campus Life Centers which include outdoor and indoor spaces, lectures, performances, virtual and in-person special events, and revenue-generating events within the University footprint.

    + Assist clients with planning, customization, media support and reservable resources for programs.

    + Prepare facilities for Audio Visual services requested.

    + Provide Audio Visual support services for campus programs, including on-site technical support.

    + Document and communicate day-of concerns with leadership.

    + Find creative, collaborative solutions to solve urgent production concerns.

    + Operate complex, sound, video, lighting, photobooth and media presentation systems.

    + Assist with a preventative maintenance plan for equipment.

    + Coordinate warranty/repairs and new installs.

    + Assist with developing scope of work, walk-throughs, procurement and project management process.

    + Manage AV reservable and revenue-generating resources (uplighting, photo booths, zoom kits, etc.) deployed within the University footprint.

    + Assist with data capturing/tracking, surveying and analysis associated with staffing and services.

    Technology Management:

    + Manage technology support for CLC event spaces, offices, and meeting rooms to ensure systems are operational and user-friendly. This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining desktop computers, laptops, TV displays, projectors, cameras, microphones, and other peripherals.

    + Interact with and troubleshoot Crestron and Extron Systems controls.

    + Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across Windows and macOS platforms, performs preventative maintenance, manages software updates and patches, and assists with digital signage, video conferencing systems, and media servers.

    + Document and Track technical issues in a support ticketing system and recommend upgrades to improve the overall user experience.

    + Responsible for inventory, assets, and budget management.

    + Maintain detailed records of AV and technological equipment, including assignment, usage, service history, and lifecycle.

    + Track consumables such as adapters, cables, and batteries, coordinate reorders as needed, and work with leadership to monitor budgets for technology and AV purchases. This includes providing input on procurement, ensuring cost-effective technology solutions, and aligning with asset management policies and financial controls.

    Supervision:

    + Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule approximately 20-30 student employees and interns.

    + Coordinate and deliver formal unit-wide training and certification programs in a/synchronous and in-person/virtual formats.

    + Identify opportunities for training and skills advancement.

    + Assist with scheduling (SubItUp scheduling application) budget planning, forecasting and tracking each pay period.

    + Review and approve student employee hours.

    Operations:

    + Manage the indoor and outdoor Campus Life Centers spaces to include areas such as courtyards, meeting rooms, common areas, offices, storage areas, auxiliary services, and event spaces.

    + Open/Close the facilities as assigned year-round, including holidays and inclement weather; assist with covering schedule gaps in the Campus Life Centers as needed.

    + Serve on a rotating on-call schedule for emergencies.

    + Conduct daily internal and external rounds.

    + Maintain high standards of maintenance, safety, and security in all Campus Life Centers footprints.

    Professional Development and Committee Involvement:

    + Participate in opportunities that promote your learning, growth, and development (i.e. classes, training, committee, webinar, etc.).

    + Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas outside of your individual unit/department (i.e. campus wide traditions, events, programs, etc.).

    + Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

    + Hours outside of the typical work schedule may be required at times.

    Special Notes:

    This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

     

    **Salary** : $67,000-$71,000 $4,000 Location Pay = $71,000-$75,000 Total Compensation

     

    In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

     

    **Essential Position:** This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
