    Second Shift: Monday - Friday 230pm - 11pm (position will need flexibility to train mostly on 1st shift)

    Location/Division Specific Information:

    Thermo Fisher Scientific's Grand Island, NY BioProduction sector assists in the advancement and production of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines by offering a range of high-quality cell culture media and buffers, along with tailored services for upstream cell culture, downstream purification, and analytical methods for identifying and measuring process/product impurities, in addition to a selection of disposable solutions covering the biologics process.

    How Will You Make an Impact:

    Seeking motivated individual with strong communication & lab skills to coordinate detailed activities within quality system for meeting quality requirements.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    + Conduct wet chemical tests on production materials like salts, sugars, amino acids, and vitamins as per cGMP regulations.

    + Conduct physical inspection and documentation review of incoming manufacturing components.

    + Apply instruments like FTIR, UV vis spectrophotometer, Polarimeter, pH meter, Auto titrator.

    + Assess and prioritize workload daily.

    + Demonstrate judgment, tact and subtlety in looking after internal and external customers.

    + Work with various computer-based software such as Sample Manager (LIMS system), Smartsheet, Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel/Word).

    + Perform other laboratory functions as assigned.

    Education:

    + Required: High School Diploma or equivalent experience required

    + Preferred: AAS degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other Sciences or equivalent experience

    Band 2 minimum qualifications (Quality Assurance and Quality Control):

    + Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in QA or QC or related field

    + Required: Proficient oral and written communication skills are required to be effective in this role.

    + Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

    Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (nice to have):

    + Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in Science related studies

    + 1-2 years of Chemistry lab experience (wet Chemistry lab work and safety protocols).

    + Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

    + Capability to function effectively in a fast-paced team setting, prioritize tasks accordingly.

    + General digital literacy, specifically in Microsoft office programs.

    Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

    + Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $16.95–$25.43.
