Welder II Position

As a Welder II, you will be a crucial part of our team, performing welding processes that help build the future of scientific discovery and innovation.
How will you make an impact?
You will carry out welding procedures on steel components and assemblies to specified tolerances using various welding metals and metal alloys. Your responsibilities will include interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to weld parts and assemblies accurately. Ensuring quality through monitoring and validation following statistical process or other control methods is essential. Additionally, you will conduct various metal finishing techniques to ready parts for painting or for repair purposes.
What will you do?
+ Position and clamp components of fabricated metal products prior to welding.
+ Set up and adjust welding equipment as needed, changing tips, adjusting temperature, feed rates, gas flow, type of gases, etc.
+ Join metal parts by using accurate welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and resistance welding within design parameters.
+ Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
+ Verify that standard specifications, custom, prototypes, etc., are welded per blueprint.
+ Inspect parts prior to starting job and upon completion to verify material accuracy and quality.
+ Perform review of first piece production to confirm compliance by measuring, verifying weld quality and finish.
+ Verify dimensions and adjust as needed to ensure accurate fit and specified tolerances are maintained.
+ Remove burrs and sharp edges using portable grinders, deburr machine, and files.
+ Accurately track and dispose of scrap and complete non-conforming tickets.
+ Directly responsible for all scrap/rework developed by your cell.
+ Verify and complete job routing by signing router sheet, submitting orders to be closed, and parts to be posted to inventory.
+ Apply color-coded process to communicate part needs with the press shop and achieve timely production.
+ Troubleshoot work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience to identify the cause and take necessary steps to rectify the situation.
+ Advise supervisor of quality problems and the status of jobs.
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Education
+ High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Experience
+ One year of welding experience or Welding Certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Ability to read and differentiate part numbers, labels, and work instructions.
+ Standing, bending, reaching, and handling bulky parts is common to the job.
+ Frequently lifts up to 35 pounds.
+ Computer and keyboarding skills.
