Position Summary:
The Surgical Spine Radiology Technologist provides health care services/support using specialized radiologic techniques within the surgical service line to assist in diagnosis and/or treatment. Duties include, but are not limited to the performance of fundamental radiographic techniques, angiography, fluoroscopy, sonographic guidance and CT guided procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner to include surgeons and radiologists.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology Program
+ Montana Licensure (Radiology Technologist)
+ American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT)
+ American Heart Association BLS within three months of hire
+ Two (2) years of previous complex radiography experience including one (1) year of experience in diagnostic imaging with angiographic techniques and imaging
Essential Job Functions:
+ Performs radiographic exams as requested by all healthcare providers
+ Performs fluoroscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures alongside radiology provider
+ Performs US guided paracentesis, thoracentesis, and arthrocentesis alongside radiology providers
+ Performs patient education for patient prep and post care of radiology procedures
+ Assists radiology nursing with fluoroscopically guided PICC placements
+ Performs c-arm fluoroscopy exams in the OR as requested by surgeons
+ Completes documentation required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams
+ Performs ancillary duties required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures
+ Retrieves written orders and related health information
+ Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the hospital quality indicators
+ Educates radiography students, new hires, and radiology techs on relevant diagnostic and operative guidance exams
+ Performs specialized radiologic guidance and support during XLIF, ALIF, PLIF and all other intraop spine surgeries.
+ Evaluates and adjusts intraop imaging for guidance of interbody fusions, instrumented fusions, and all hardware placement
+ Controls OR table for optimal patient positioning during orthopedic spine surgery
+ Controls PACS for comparative image analysis during OR cases
+ Assists surgeon and nursing staff in the preparation of sterile supply fields
+ Assists OR staff in patient repositioning during surgical procedures
+ Retrieves surgical supplies before and during spinal surgery

+ Works varied shifts as scheduled and/or needed
