    Job Description Summary

    As a member of this world class team, the Lead Project Engineer will execute the protection and control aspects of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, testing, start-up and commissioning of the electrical aspects of fixed series capacitors (FSC), static VAR compensation (SVC) and synchronous condenser (SC) solutions within GE’s FACTS portfolio.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    + Write high voltage equipment specifications, issue material purchase request forms, and evaluate vendor quotations for FACTS equipment including capacitors, reactors, rotating equipment, high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, disconnects, power transformers, high voltage cable, and protection and control systems

    + Act as single point of contact for technical issues for the customer and project manager

    + Develop and execute start-up, testing and commissioning plans

    + Lead team of engineers and designers and coordinate with sourcing and other project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives

    + Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations

    + Develop proposals including writing and / or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, supporting sourcing for vendor quotations, directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements, and the development of clarifications and exceptions as well as technical responses

    + Initiate and execute cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction

    + Lead a team in performing RCA's (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions

    + Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience

    -OR-

    + Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college and 3 years of related engineering experience

    Eligibility Requirements:

    + Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% as required, which may include remote locations and international travel, and be willing to comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

    + Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

    Desired Characteristics:

    + Professional Engineering registration (within the U.S.).

    + Prior FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) application or design experience

    + Experience in mechanical and civil engineering

    + Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided

    + Experience in installation, field-testing and commissioning of HV equipment, including required safe work habits

    + Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability

    + Effective communication and interpersonal skills

    + Ability to work in a team environment

    + Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget

    + Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs

    + Good presence in front of the customer with demonstrated commercial experience such as Project Management

    + Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, and familiarity with AutoCAD and Microstation

    + Ability to automate design tasks through Visual Basic programming of Excel, AutoCAD or Microstation

     

    The base pay range for this position is $88,600-118,100. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 11/14/2025.

     

    The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
