A. POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the Residential Coordinator in the care, safety and well-being of persons receiving services living in assigned residences. Assists in setting performance standards and providing the support and training necessary for direct care staff to achieve standards. Assists in the evaluation of direct care staff's performance and provides feedback, guidance and/or discipline, as appropriate. Assists the Program Coordinator in the development, implementation and monitoring of each program plan and for ensuring that all persons receiving services are afforded opportunities and for activities that promote individualization, independence, inclusion and, productivity.
B. POSITION DUTIES:
1. Responsible for the direct supervision of the night shift Direct Care staff and all night shift routines for assigned residences.
2. Interviews, hires, evaluates, supervises, and disciplines night shift Direct Care staff in assigned locations. Conducts supervisory face-to-face sessions with night shift.
3. Performs crisis intervention, either individual or staff related, when necessary.
4. Ensures adequate staffing for the day shift on a daily basis. Conveys all necessary information to management personnel.
5. Completes basic payroll for all daily changes for the day shift in conjunction with Deployment Supervisor(s).
6. Provides initial orientation to the night shift Direct Care personnel and will conduct ongoing training sessions as needed.
7. Ensures all fire drills are conducted and documented according to regulation and reports any concerns to the Residential Coordinator.
8. Communicates to Day Supervisor and Residential Coordinator any concerns found on night shift, i.e., staffing issues, physical plant, supplies needed, etc.
9. Attends all staff meetings as directed.
10. Ensures that all night shift duties as assigned are implemented, i.e., wheelchair cleanliness, ironing, cleaning of cabinets, cleaning of refrigerators, equipment, etc.
11. Performs all other duties as assigned.
C. REQUIREMENTS:
1. Associate’s degree preferred in Human Services/or related field or three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in the ID/DD field in lieu of formal educational qualifications.
2. Knowledge of HCBS Waiver IRA and ICF regulations preferred.
3. Must be able to work a night shift and work flexible hours as needed, be on-call, and be able to provide weekend coverage as scheduled.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications.
5. Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims acts, whistleblower protections and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.

Directly: Night shift Direct Care Counselor (approximately thirty (25) staff)
Indirectly: Day shift Direct Care Counselor (approximately twenty-five (25) staff)
