    What does the job involve?

     

    Support the local Equinor organization in Houston within the area of vessel clearance and Marine Technology.

     

    Perform tanker vessel and offshore vessel inspections, and possibly also vessels intended for the renewable industry based on a background as sailing Chief Engineer, Chief Officer or Captain.

     

    Perform audits and follow up of Document of Compliance (DOC) holders based on certification as external ISM Auditor.

     

    Responsible for research and for developing and implementing technical-,engineering- and operational solutions, optimizing and monitoring the quality, safety, and efficiency, within the Marine Technology competence area (including but not limited to marine concepts, marine structures, civil engineering, marine operations, ship technology and -transport, marine systems, marine hydrodynamics, dynamic risers/cables, metocean, wind energy yield, geotechnics and geophysical survey covering both oil and gas, low carbon and renewable applications). Governance shall be based on technical and professional standards and relevant industry best practices, supported by state-of-the-art systems, processes, methods and tools to support decision making processes.

     

    You are utilizing your knowledge to solve highly complex tasks with a medium-term tactical impact/risk. You address key business issues that align with Equinor's short and long-term strategy via providing specialist support and leading complex tasks. You execute and ensure the quality of activities for your department or professional group. You may also lead a professional network and support leaders in shaping the direction for a core strategic competence area.​ You translate specialized advice into easily understandable information for the entire business and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders. You manage conflicting agendas, occasionally lead negotiations with senior stakeholders and facilitate decision-making processes. You resolve complex business challenges by developing and implementing new products, processes, and standards. You shape best practices across different areas. You play a key role in managing and implementing critical change initiatives. You provide guidance and influence leaders to deal with uncertainty and embrace change.​ You follow and comply with safety, ethics, and compliance requirements and align with leadership expectations and company values.     What will my tasks be?

    Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

    + Perform daily vessel screening through the IT-system Mainstay PRO.

    + Support our business organization with insight in Marine Assurance

    + Guide our charterers during daily challenges related to vessel evaluation

    + Cooperate closely with our ship operators and advise during incidents and accidents, aligning with the company base organization in decision processes

    + Advise the business representatives in processes related to selection of Marine technology

    + Perform advocacy on company requirements and guidelines in the strive to develop consistency

    + Collaborate within cross-functional teams to identify the root causes of problems, and implement corrective actions, technologies or methods

    + Drive collaboration across multiple operations, project development and research/technology development teams to identify and evaluate new methods for operational excellence, reduction of cost and environmental footprint

    + Perform quality assurance and control activities, driving continuous improvement initiatives within Marine technology

    + Provide technical guidance, leadership and expertise across the organization, foster a culture of learning and development within teams and provide mentorship to team members at various levels

    + Minimum of 8+ years shipboard experience with a minimum of 3+ years as Captain, Chief Engineer or 1st Officer, preferably with experience from tankers.

    + Existing vetting experience desirable

    + Need to be accreditable for SIRE and meet the overall time at sea requirements preferably including tanker experience

    + Sailing experience from Offshore Loading Shuttle Tankers is desirable

    + Experience with other Oil Major or DOC-holders organizing SIRE inspections.

    + Ability to communicate issues immediately and speaking freely about non-optimal situations, while handling risk.

    + Humble listener, and strong communicator – proactive communication, from previous offshore experience and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
