The **Web Player Engineering team** is responsible for the playback experience reaching millions of users across Disney’s web brands and web streaming applications, including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, ABC News … and many more. The team fosters an environment of collaboration and creativity, and we develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms and solve complex and distinctive technical problems. We’re seeking a **Web Player Engineering Intern** to actively support and contribute to the team’s drive towards the company’s business objectives. In this position you will primarily focus on web player core platform and core and branded player UI code contributions. This will include opportunities to learn standard web engineering best practices, design patterns, and industry leading frameworks. What You Will Do: On any given day you might: + Participate in web player core platform architecture and design sessions. + Work on implementing architectural designs for both core platform and player UI in support of meeting business objectives. + Add minor player features or enhancements. + Work with Design and Product to implement updated playback experiences across web brands and streaming apps. + Triage and work towards resolution of production bugs in playback logic or UI controls. + Write unit and integration tests. + Investigate and document playback issues. + Pair program with senior engineers. + Attend standups, sprint planning, and other sprint ceremonies. + Learn about streaming formats, digital rights management (DRM), and telemetry analytics. **Required Qualifications & Skills** : + Knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following programming languages: JavaScript, HTML, CSS + Knowledge and/or experience interfacing with REST APIs + Strong problem solving and communication skills Preferred Qualifications & Skills: + Familiarity with version control systems such as Git + Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as TypeScript, React, and Node + Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced working environment + Highly self-motivated and a strong willingness to learn Education: + Junior or Senior preferred + Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field. Eligibility Requirements & Program Information Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements: + Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. + Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program. + Be at least 18 years of age + Possess unrestricted work authorization Additional Information + Fully available from M-F, 40 hours each week for the entire program duration: May/June - August/September 2026 (12 weeks) + Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program + Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work The pay rate for this role in New York, NY is $42.00 per hour.
