This position offers flexible scheduling with varying hours between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM, including rotating weekends, and guarantees a minimum of 20 hours per week.
As a vital member of our team, you'll play a key role in supporting patient care by efficiently scheduling appointments, assisting patients and families in person and over the phone, and ensuring accurate entry of demographic and insurance information. Responsibilities:
+ Verify necessary information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system.
+ Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patients' appointments and relay necessary messages to staff and providers.
+ Greet and register patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner and provide any necessary instructions/directions. Inform appropriate department/person of person's arrival, performing appropriate check-in and check-out functions.
+ Maintain clean, orderly waiting area, including beverage area and reading materials.
+ Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments.
+ Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information.
+ Maintain and update current information on physicians' schedules, ensuring patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
+ Complete necessary paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals and use computer system to generate information necessary for billing.
+ Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
+ Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures and maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
+ Utilize appropriate modules of the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, co-payment collection/reconciliation, and other tasks.
Required:
+ High school diploma or GED is required.
+ One (1) year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
Preferred:
+ Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
+ Word processing and computer experience preferred.
