    Salary: $75,000

     

    Pay Grade: 15

    Job Summary

    The **Facilities Unit Manager** is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and execution of all soft services and programs within a regulated manufacturing environment. This includes oversight of housekeeping, CME-regulated cleaning programs, pest control, light maintenance, and GxP-compliant documentation and reporting. The Facilities Manager ensures that all operations meet site, corporate, and regulatory standards while optimizing cost, quality, and service delivery.

     

    This role requires a hands-on leader with strong financial acumen, technical understanding of compliance-driven operations, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams and vendor partners in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Facilities Operations&Compliance

    + Manage daily facility operations, including housekeeping, janitorial, and CME-regulated cleaning activities.

    + Ensure all cleaning and maintenance activities adhere to GxP, GMP, and site-specific regulatory standards.

    + Maintain comprehensive GxP documentation, including validation, cleaning logs, deviation reports, and change control records.

    + Oversee pest control programs to ensure compliance with internal quality systems and external regulatory expectations.

    + Support and enforce site safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and local safety requirements.

    + Coordinate preventive maintenance and minor repair activities to maintain a safe and efficient facility environment.

    Leadership&Team Management

    + Lead and develop a multi-functional team, including supervisors, technicians, and vendor partners, ensuring consistent performance and professional growth.

    + Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

    + Partner with site operations, quality, EHS, and engineering teams to align facilities support with production and quality objectives.

    + Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, ensuring adherence to scope of work, service-level agreements, and site policies.

    Financial Management

    + Develop and manage facility budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.

    + Drive cost efficiencies without compromising service quality or compliance.

    + Review and validate vendor invoices, manage purchase orders, and maintain accurate financial records.

    Contract and Scope of Work Oversight

    + Evaluate and maintain all facilities-related contracts, ensuring clarity of scope, performance metrics, and compliance with service specifications.

    + Interpret and enforce “yellow line” service boundaries to ensure proper delineation of responsibilities between internal teams and external vendors.

    + Conduct periodic contract reviews and performance audits to ensure alignment with site needs and budgetary goals.

    Short Description

    Quality&Continuous Improvement

    + Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and regulatory adherence.

    + Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.

    + Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and sustainability initiatives across facility operations.

    + Ensure the integrity and readiness of all documentation for inspections and audits.

    + Qualifications

    Education&Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

    + Minimum of 5–8 years of experience managing facilities operations in a regulated manufacturing or life sciences environment (GxP/GMP required).

    + Demonstrated experience in CME or critical manufacturing environment cleaning programs.

    + Proven success managing vendors, contracts, and compliance-driven service delivery.

    Skills&Competencies

    + Strong understanding of GxP, GMP, and quality systems requirements.

    + Excellent leadership, team development, and interpersonal communication skills.

    + Advanced organizational and documentation management abilities.

    + Strong financial literacy—budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CMMS systems, and document management tools.

    + Knowledge of pest control principles and sanitation requirements in manufacturing environments.

    + Ability to read, interpret, and manage technical contracts and scopes of work.

    + Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under regulatory constraints.

    Work Environment

    + Primarily on-site in a manufacturing or controlled facility setting.

    + Requires frequent interaction with operations, quality, EHS, and maintenance departments.

    + May require occasional off-hours support for emergencies, audits, or special projects.
