Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to sit onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) supporting a large Army program. This candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining several PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server database systems across both Linux and Windows environments. They will ensure the integrity, security, and high availability of these databases through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and compliance with DISA STIGs.

This person should have strong hands-on experience with database administration, performance optimization, and implementing upgrades and patches with minimal downtime. They will work closely with developers to assist in query tuning and ensure the databases are resilient and responsive. The DBA will also support database architecture and deployment on container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift, and contribute to infrastructure automation using Terraform and other IaC tools. The ideal candidate will be the go-to expert for database health and performance, collaborating with Storage SMEs and DB Architects to support mission-critical systems. They will be expected to maintain secure and compliant database environments and support continuous improvement of database operations.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related technical field.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant DBA experience within the last 8 years.

• Hands-on experience with:

• PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and MySQL

• Linux-based database platforms

• DISA STIG implementation and auditing

• Container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)

• IaC tools (Terraform or similar)
