    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    Constellation Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Instrumentation & Controls Planner to support maintenance and reliability of critical I&C systems, including digital protection relays, across our clean energy generation fleet. This role is responsible for developing and coordinating work packages, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving condition-based maintenance strategies for high-voltage and control systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Work Planning & Package Development

     

    -Develop detailed work packages for preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of I&C systems, including digital relays (SEL, ABB, GE).

     

    -Create and maintain procedures, drawings, and technical documentation for relay testing, calibration, and firmware updates.

     

    Field Walkdowns & Condition Assessment

     

    -Conduct on-site inspections of instrumentation and control equipment to assess relay health, configuration accuracy, and communication integrity.

     

    -Identify and document equipment issues, required parts, and safety considerations.

     

    Testing & Coordination

     

    -Coordinate relay testing activities with internal technicians and external vendors.

     

    -Ensure proper execution of trip curve verification, fault simulation, and event log analysis.

     

    Material Procurement & Logistics

     

    -Specify and source digital relays, modules, and accessories in alignment with plant standards and regulatory codes.

     

    - Track inventory and manage procurement timelines to support scheduled outages and emergent work.

     

    Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

     

    -Ensure all work complies with NERC, IEEE, ASME, and site-specific standards.

     

    -Manage permits (OOS, RWP, ALARA) and maintain accurate records of relay configurations and test results.

     

    Cross-functional Collaboration

     

    -Interface with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Work Management teams to resolve technical issues and optimize planning.

     

    -Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and feedback loops.

     

    Digital Relay Strategy

     

    -Leverage operational data from digital relays to support condition-based maintenance planning.

     

    -Monitor firmware versions, trip histories, and diagnostic alerts to proactively address reliability risks.

    Qualifications:

    5+ years of experience in I&C maintenance planning, preferably in power generation or industrial environments.

     

    Strong knowledge of digital protection relays and associated testing protocols.

     

    Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo), technical drawing software, and regulatory standards.

     

    Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

    Preferred Certifications:

    NETA Level II/III (or equivalent relay testing certification)

     

    OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, or similar safety training

     

    PMP or Maintenance Planning certification a plus
