Job Description

Our client in India is looking for a BI Manager to join their team. The BI Manager will lead the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions to drive actionable business insights. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that support enterprise-level decision-making. The manager will oversee a distributed team of BI professionals, including engineers, developers, analysts, and product owners. Additionally, the position focuses on enhancing user experience and interface for business reporting, leveraging Power BI and UI/UX design principles. As the Manager, you will lead a distributed team of 5 to 15 BI professionals. They will define key performance indicators for delivery, report usage, and business adoption. The role involves driving stakeholder alignment across technology and business functions to ensure BI initiatives are outcome-driven and tightly integrated with business processes. Staying updated on reporting trends and emerging technologies is essential to continuously improve reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities shown below:

• Gather reporting needs from stakeholders and translate them into effective BI solutions.

• Own BI solution architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise data platforms (Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake).

• Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, cloud data warehouses).

• Experience with BI and analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).

• Experience with cloud-based BI and analytics services (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.

• Excellent SQL skills and experience optimizing complex queries.

• Integrate multiple data sources and build practical data models for analytical analysis.

• Oversee design, development, and deployment of scalable dashboards, semantic models, and advanced visualizations (Power BI, Tableau).

• Manage team backlog and workflow.

• Define and enforce standards for report catalog and governance framework.

• Ensure seamless data integration and accessibility.

• Tune complex DAX, SQL queries, Power Query, and data models for performance across large retail datasets.

• Implement and monitor BI SLAs and refresh strategies for high availability and consistency.

• Define performance baselines for visual loads, dataset refresh times, and user concurrency.

• Optimize Power BI dashboards for performance (query optimization, data caching, report rendering).

• Develop and implement best practices for Power BI development, deployment, and maintenance.

• Identify opportunities to automate reports, improve efficiency, and enhance visualization techniques.

• Lead implementation of CI/CD pipelines for BI (Git, Azure DevOps, Power BI deployment pipelines).

• Drive standardization and templating of visuals, themes, and KPI frameworks across the organization.

Skills and Requirements

• Must be onsite 5 days per week

• 8-12 years of BI experience with deep expertise in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.

• 4+ years managing technical BI teams in an enterprise environment.

• Advanced skills in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, DAX, SQL, and dimensional modeling.

• Strong understanding of data architecture concepts, including data Lakehouse.

• Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP (Data Factory, Synapse, Key Vault, ADLS Gen2), Databricks, or Snowflake.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a global environment with people at all levels.

• Exposure to Python, Spark, SQL for BI-related data wrangling or integration. • Knowledge of governance frameworks for KPI alignment, report standardization, and data security.

• Familiarity with Agile/DevOps delivery models and tools (JIRA, Confluence, Git).
