Job Overview
The Vice President of Operations is responsible for leading all aspects of Rogue's production, packaging, maintenance, and distribution functions at our flagship brewery and distribution center in Newport, Oregon. This role ensures that production goals are achieved, quality standards are maintained, and all operations comply with applicable regulations and company policies.
The Vice President of Operations serves as a key member of the leadership team, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and a culture of collaboration, safety, and accountability across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Operational Leadership: Oversee all brewing, packaging, warehousing, and distribution activities to meet production goals while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
+ Strategic Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term operational strategies, including annual budgets, capacity planning, and production forecasts.
+ Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains through Lean, Kaizen, and data-driven initiatives.
+ Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor production and operations leaders, fostering an engaged, high-performance culture.
+ Maintenance Oversight: Ensure that all production equipment and facilities are properly maintained, with robust preventive maintenance programs in place.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, and international regulatory requirements related to brewing, packaging, and distribution.
+ Quality Assurance: Partner with QA/QC teams to ensure product quality and consistency through rigorous testing and process control.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Pub Operations to align production with business objectives.
+ Capital Projects: Plan and manage production-related capital expenditures, including equipment purchases, upgrades, and facility expansions.
+ Reporting: Prepare and present operational performance metrics to the Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
+ Safety: Champion Rogue's core values and ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace.
Education / Experience / Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Brewing Science, Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
+ Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing or food & beverage operations; brewery experience strongly preferred.
+ Proven track record of managing budgets, people, and processes in a fast-paced production environment.
+ Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
+ Knowledge of brewing and packaging processes, maintenance systems, supply chain, and quality management.
+ Familiarity with regulatory and safety compliance in beverage manufacturing.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
+ Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
+ Primarily office-based with regular time spent on the production floor.
+ Occasional lifting up to 60lbs. and standing for extended periods.
+ Exposure to varying noise levels and temperature conditions.
+ Occasional travel within the region and to industry events.
