The Director of Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic and operational HR leadership across System Services, Southwest Medical Center, and all Oregon PeaceHealth operations. This role serves as a key partner to executive and operational leaders, aligning human resources strategies with organizational goals to support a high-performing, mission-driven workforce. The Director oversees all aspects of HR within the assigned areas. This position plays a critical role in fostering a culture of collaboration and caregiver engagement, while ensuring compliance with employment laws and internal policies. The Director must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and change management skills, and bring a deep understanding of HR practices within complex, multi-site healthcare or service organizations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops and manages HR implementation plans in support of organizational strategies and goals.
2. Selects, develops, evaluates and leads a team of human resource professionals with a goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal consulting group.
3. Manages and resolves complex employee and labor relations issues. May serve as chief negotiator for local collective bargaining agreements.
4. Leads and directs HR partnership model within assigned areas of responsibility. Utilizes consulting skills and change management techniques to elevate leadership competency.
5. Customizes or implements human resource solutions to human capital problems using creative or new HR solutions. Responsible for identifying solutions and designing strategy consistent with overall system vision, strategy and standards.
6. Collaborates for appropriate outcomes with leadership, Centers of Expertise (COE) and the HR Service (HRSC) which balance caregiver needs, policies, procedures and compliance with regulatory standards and PeaceHealth mission and values. Translates buy-in into tactical operational/resource support from the organization.
7. Facilitates and supports organizational change at the unit or functional-level. Coordinates change-related culture and people activities across all service lines.
8. Manages front-facing team interface and support to insure all human resource functions are aligned to meet and support the needs of leaders and caregivers. Provides feedback and input to COEs, reporting performance and needs of team members. Ensures connections across all areas of HR for planning and alignment within the operating unit.
9. Develops plans to improve caregiver and provider experience including review of data and best practices.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Master's Degree or a combination of education and professional experience that provides the incumbent with the requisite knowledge, skills and ability to successfully perform the job.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
+ Minimum of 7 years of related human resources experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
+ Minimum of 5 years leadership experience.
+ Experience working in a shared services environment and working knowledge of organizational development and change management.
CREDENTIALS
+ _Preferred:_ Certified Senior Professional Human Resources
REQUIRED SKILLS
+ Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability.
+ Expertise in organizational development and change management.
+ Expertise in employee & labor relations including negotiation skills.
+ Understanding of systems of care and healthcare operations.
+ Financial acumen, preferably in healthcare.
+ Mediation and conflict resolution skills.
+ Knowledge of regulatory compliance, federal and state laws with a working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to identify, utilize and interpret workforce-related metrics.
+ Proficient in the use of a major HRIS solution.
The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is **$131,019 – $196,456.** The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, seniority, etc.
