Job Description:
The Clinical Ethics Director establishes the structure and processes for Ethics Committees and Consultation teams across the designated region, provides expert guidance on clinical ethics and leads the implementation of Proactive Integrative Ethics. The Director offers on-call support for complex cases at all Care Sites in the region and coordinates consultation activities to ensure consistency and excellence. In collaboration with clinical and operational leaders, the Leader ensures that the values and Mission of Intermountain Health are fully integrated into the organization’s work.

This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Intermountain Health Board-approved goals.

As the Clinical Ethics Director, you will:
+ Build and sustain the infrastructure for Proactive Integrative Ethics across all care sites, ensuring alignment with patient care and experience goals.
+ Collect and analyze key performance indicators to demonstrate the value of ethics initiatives in collaboration with Mission Integration.
+ Assess, educate, and support Ethics Committees and Consultation Teams to operate with consistency, autonomy, and high competency.
+ Ensure uniformity in the structure and delivery of Clinical Ethics services throughout the Region.
+ Provide around-the-clock availability for complex ethical consultations and serve as backup for the Regional VP of Ethics and Church Relations.
+ Collaborate with ICU and high-utilization teams to embed ethics into daily clinical practice through rounding and education.
+ Ensure ethics support for ambulatory care settings.
+ Deliver targeted ethics education to clinical staff, residency programs, and other key groups, including support for Mission Integration Formation programs.
+ If responsible for the Peaks Region, ensure adherence to the _Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services._

Minimum Qualifications
+ **Education** : Minimum of a master's degree in healthcare Ethics, Philosophy, Theology or equivalent discipline, doctoral degree preferred. Health Care Ethics Consultant – Certified preferred.
+ **Experience** : Clinical health care ethics experience. Must also have experience in ethics collaboration in a broad spectrum of healthcare environments.
+ **Knowledge** : Awareness of key bioethical approaches, techniques of ethical analysis, as well as leading ethics consultations in clinical settings.
+ **Communication skills** : Ability to communicate with a wide variety of associates, clinicians, patients, and leadership. Excellent presentation skills are required with fluency in developing electronic presentations. Proficiency in collaboration and networking skills is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
+ **Ability and discipline to work semi** - **autonomously:** Can work and meet task expectations with minimal amount of direct supervision. Requires a capacity for prioritizing tasks, meeting performance standards, and exercising accountability in a matrix reporting structure.
+ **Leadership skills:** Must demonstrate ability in working with diverse groups of stakeholders to move to common goals and decisions. Must be able to form and foster group cohesion. Have the capacity to tolerate ambiguity and navigate power dynamics.
+ **Technology:** Must be able to use/learn to use the comprehensive electronic medical record. Ability to use Microsoft Office tools.
+ **Travel:** Willingness to travel as needed and as assigned.

+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
+ Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
+ May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
+ Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
