Job Summary
This is an internal-facing position that enhances state and federal regulatory and legislative advocacy efforts by:
+ Working with SGA and federal advocacy leads to develop compelling persuasion arguments on our key issues that will resonate with key external audiences, including the public policy decision-makers and influencers that affect PSEG’s business. The position will develop arguments solidly backed up with facts, which may be elicited from internal subject matter experts, external consultants/firms hired to perform certain analyses, our internal business plans, regulatory filings, and financial or investor information.
+ Supporting the state and federal advocacy efforts by producing deliverables for different external stakeholder audiences, including power point slide decks, graphics, white papers, position papers, summaries or other written materials designed to simplify complex material for external audiences.
+ Supporting the ESG governance aspect of PSEG’s stakeholder engagement by managing a cross-functional stakeholder engagement council of key relationship managers across the Enterprise, with the goal of coordinating our identification of important stakeholders, engagement channels and approaches, key issues, opportunities and trouble spots.
Job Responsibilities
+ Work with federal and state advocacy leads to formulate substantive arguments to build stakeholder support for PSEG’s policy agenda, legislative/regulatory outcomes or investments.
+ Create deliverables that can be used with external audiences by federal and state government affairs colleagues.
+ Gather the supporting information to bolster our persuasion effort; This can include managing external consultants or academics retained to provide expertise, engaging with PSEG subject matter experts on tax, finance, business operations, or other disciplines, absorbing written products either generated by PSEG such as the PSEG business plan, regulatory filings, pleadings, investor materials, or other studies and reports by external stakeholders or organizations
+ Support effort to close the ESG gap related to systemic stakeholder engagement by coordinating an Enterprise-wide team of relationship managers, and overseeing the decentralized effort to catalog critical stakeholders, engagement approaches, issues of interest, opportunities and trouble spots in our engagement with important external stakeholders.
Job Specific Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree, BA or BS or equivalent experience, an advanced degree such as an MBA, MPP or MS is preferred.
+ A Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience working with government relations, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, or issue management.
+ An ability to quickly grasp policy and political issues facing PSEG.
+ Strong written and verbal communications skills, ability to translate complex topics for diverse external audiences.
+ Strong political instincts, ability to understand the elements of effective persuasion in the public policy arena.
+ Keen attention to detail.
+ Ability to create compelling graphics, charts, visuals, tables; use of Power Point, Excel and other tools.
+ Ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing and in oral presentations to a range of audiences.
+ Ability to run meetings, be assertive in seeking answers to challenging questions that face us as we try to advance and protect PSEG’s interests in the public policy arena
Desired
+ Expertise and Proven ability to compellingly translate data and concepts graphically through Power Point, Excel, and other tools.
+ Familiarity with modeling concepts, and SWOT analysis, Stakeholder Mapping.
