    The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a (full-time) (Deputy Director for Storehouse Operations) in the Bureau of (Bureau of Communications/Radio Shop). Reporting directly to the (Director of Storehouse Operations), the successful candidate will: The Deputy Director for Radio Shop Storehouse Operations will report to the Director of Radio Shop Administration and will be responsible for overseeing and directing all warehouse-related functions within the radio shop, which specializes in mobile radios, portable radios, MDTs, and other communication equipment. This leadership role involves supervising and managing warehouse staff to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

     

    Key responsibilities include managing the full lifecycle of ordering, shipping, receiving, inventory control, fiscal oversight, requirements contracts, and purchase orders. The Deputy Director ensures that all warehouse and shop processes support operational efficiency and compliance with departmental and citywide guidelines.

     

    The role also includes coordinating all equipment in the shop whether in progress, awaiting service, or being worked on while customers wait. This requires maintaining real-time awareness of equipment locations and statuses, continuously organizing and adjusting equipment movement to optimize workflow, avoid bottlenecks, and ensure timely service.

     

    They will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory records, ensuring all equipment is logged, stored, and tracked properly. In collaboration with the storehouse manager, the Deputy Director will assign tasks, assist with various warehouse projects, and help delegate responsibilities to ensure productivity and accountability.

    ADMINISTRATIVE STOREKEEPER - 10038

    Qualifications

    1. Six years of full-time progressively responsible experience in warehousing operations at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity requiring independent decision-making concerning management or planning, allocation of resources and the scheduling and assignment of work; or

    2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above. Education may be substituted for the general administrative experience (but not for the 18 months of managerial experience described above) at the rate of 1 year of college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 4 years of college for 2 years of experience.
