    Patient Care Technician – Wesson 4

    **Location:** Springfield, MA

    **Hours:** 36 hours/week | **Shift:** Days (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)

    **Schedule:** Every other weekend and holiday required

    **Certification:** American Heart Association BLS (CPR) required

    Summary

    Join Baystate Health as a **Patient Care Technician (PCT)** on our Wesson 4 unit in Springfield, MA.

     

    Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients while supporting the overall operations of the unit. This role offers the opportunity to build your skills in a dynamic hospital environment and make a real difference in patients’ lives.

    What You’ll Do

    + Provide age-appropriate, compassionate bedside care — including hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring

    + Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other patient data accurately and on time

    + Assist nurses and physicians with treatments, procedures, and patient exams

    + Perform and document Point of Care (POC) testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs as needed

    + Support patient elimination needs and specimen collection per established procedures

    + Maintain equipment, ensure patient safety, and respond promptly to emergencies

    + Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members

    + Participate as a valued member of a collaborative care team

    What You’ll Need

    + High school diploma or equivalent preferred

    + Previous healthcare experience a plus

    + **Basic Life Support (BLS)** certification from the American Heart Association (required)

    + Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations

    + Commitment to providing excellent, compassionate patient care
