Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor of Clinical Laboratory Science to begin Fall 2026.

This is a non-tenure track, 9-month faculty position. Primary duties will include teaching or co-teaching didactic and laboratory courses in: hematology/hemostasis, immunohematology, genetics/molecular diagnostics, microbiology, immunology, urinalysis/body fluids, and/or laboratory operations across the curriculum; updating course materials consistent with program accreditation requirements and advances in the field; participating in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives; continuing education needed to maintain professional certification or licensure; and assisting the CLS Director. Duties also include advising and supporting students regarding academic, career, and professional development; engaging in department, college, and university committees and assigned service activities; serving as a liaison with clinical partners; and contributing to professional and community outreach as appropriate. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is actively developing a Clinical Laboratory Science program. The proposed CLS program pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in clinical/medical laboratory science or closely related field; active and current ASCP BOC certification as a medical laboratory scientist MLS(ASCP)CM (or other professional certification recognized by the department); at least 3 years of full-time employment experience as a clinical/medical laboratory scientist; and evidence of current competence and ongoing professional development in clinical/medical laboratory science. We strongly encourage candidates with doctorate in clinical laboratory science (DCLS), PhD in clinical/medical laboratory science or related field; higher education teaching experience; national certification as a specialist in a CLS/MLS discipline; advanced certification in online teaching; proven familiarity with NAACLS accreditation; accreditation experience in laboratory science education; active in professional organizations; employment experience within multiple disciplines in the CLS/MLS field; passion to work with first-generation students, and the ability to teach in multiple disciplines that complement our program.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
