Who We Are
The Texas A&M University Career Center provides centralized career and professional development services for undergraduate, graduate, and former students. We provide individualized career advising while also empowering students to utilize self-assessment resources to identify and explore careers, and we assist and support students in gaining relevant experience and pursuing their career goals, whether they choose to seek admission to graduate school or secure professional employment. One of the largest programs of its kind in the nation, the Career Center has been recognized nationally and regionally for our many best practices. The Career Center’s main office is centrally located on campus in the Koldus Building. There are also numerous satellite locations across campus to provide students convenient access to our services. What We Want
The Career Development Specialist, Graduate Student Advising, under direction, provides advanced professional skills in developing, planning, promoting, and implementing career development programs, activities, and services to support the student population. This position includes collaboration across departments, employers, and campus constituents to enhance career readiness initiatives.
In this role, you will:
+ Guide graduate and professional school students in career exploration, major planning, and job search strategies.
+ Help students connect with employers, industries, and professional development opportunities.
+ Develop innovative career programs and hands-on experiences.
+ Expand digital career services by designing and implementing e-learning and virtual programming through platforms such as LMS systems, live-streaming, and online collaboration tools.

What You Need To Know
Salary: $51,750.00/Annually

Responsibilities
Career Development Programming and Student Engagement:
+ Advises graduate students in areas of career/major exploration, career planning, and job search skills/techniques such as resume writing, job search strategies, networking, and interviewing.
+ Advises on all graduate student career paths, including industry, government, non-profit, and faculty careers.
+ Designs, implements, and evaluates career education and development programming for Graduate and Professional School students.
+ Supports Career Center mission by participating in programs and services including drop-in advising, committee work, regular team meetings, and center-wide events and initiatives.
+ Utilizes digital technologies, including learning management system platforms, live-streaming, virtual career services, and online collaboration tools, to broadly deliver career content.
+ Supports current Texas A&M University prospective graduate student advising and programming when needed.
Presentations and Campus Relations:
+ Leads presentations highlighting services and special programs available to graduate students and constituent groups throughout campus and within the community.
+ Manages high-scale, peer-reviewed Individual Development Plan (IDP) program
+ Supports university-level graduate student professional development program housed within Graduate and Professional School by delivering non-credit career instruction
+ Conducts outreach and workshops in collaboration with faculty and advisors to integrate career readiness into the academic experience.
+ Meets regularly with advisors, faculty, and/or administration within the colleges/schools or program area to provide information about services and progress throughout the year.
Employer Development and External Relations:
+ Establishes and maintains employer relationships to expand internship, co-op, and job opportunities for students.
+ Serves as Career Center representative at employer and industry events.
+ Collaborates with recruiting organizations to ensure alignment between employer expectations and student preparedness.
Resource Development and Data Management:
+ Develops and maintains digital and print resources tailored to students’ career fields.
+ Supports assessment and data collection processes to measure program effectiveness and student outcomes.
+ Monitors and evaluates resources for effectiveness and efficiency to help determine necessary revisions.
Administrative Support:
+ Participates in ongoing staff development and career services best practices.
+ Participates in departmental meetings and strategic planning sessions.
+ May train student employees related to the needs of the assigned academic disciplines and/or student population.
+ Coordinates internal and external communications, ensuring accurate dissemination of program updates.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ One year of experience in career services, advising, recruiting, or related specialty.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in student affairs or related specialty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
+ Excellent customer service and communication skills – interpersonal, written, and presentation.
+ Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs, and ability to work with and present data.
+ Experience with complex databases and computer software programs.
+ Proficiency in researching and utilizing online resources.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple, ongoing programs and services.
