    Lowe's (Charlotte, NC)

    Your Impact

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Disaster Recovery (DR) function within Lowe’s new Operational Resilience organization. This role ensures the enterprise’s critical technology services can be recovered and validated end-to-end following a disruption.

This position combines strategic direction with strong operational execution, overseeing the team responsible for DR planning, testing, and technical validation across hybrid environments. The role requires hands-on expertise with infrastructure recovery, dependency mapping, automation, and event response coordination — ensuring Lowe’s can restore services that support core business operations and customer experiences.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience executing recovery exercises, troubleshooting complex dependencies, and driving accountability across engineering and operations teams to close technical recovery gaps.

    What You Will Do

+ Manage the DR operations team within the Operational Resilience function, ensuring alignment with enterprise recovery objectives.

+ Establish and maintain the DR framework and testing model that standardizes how Lowe’s validates recoverability across distributed technology teams.

+ Define recovery plan patterns and templates for infrastructure, application, and service tiers to ensure consistency and auditability.

+ Coordinate and execute recovery exercises — from single-service validations to integrated business process tests — to validate readiness and technical feasibility.

+ Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and readiness reports that reflect true recovery capability and test coverage.

+ Partner with IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Engineering to align recovery procedures with monitoring, backup, and failover capabilities.

+ Integrate DR frameworks with enterprise tools (e.g., CMDB, ITSM, automation/orchestration) to enable scalable, data-driven validation.

+ Serve as the operational recovery lead during test or real recovery events, ensuring adherence to playbooks and capturing deviations for improvement.

+ Mentor associates and plan owners to mature DR skills, validation rigor, and execution discipline across teams.

    Tactical & Operational Responsibilities

+ Build and maintain recovery testing frameworks (checklists, playbooks, and evidence models) that enable repeatable, auditable testing.

+ Validate recovery procedures through technical walk-throughs, dry runs, and full exercises.

+ Identify automation opportunities to streamline plan maintenance and test execution.

+ Drive the creation and accuracy of recovery inventories (Tier 0/1 systems, data replication mechanisms, and critical service dependencies).

+ Track remediation items through closure and coordinate post-test and post-incident reviews.

+ Lead post-recovery technical reviews and ensure lessons learned are embedded into future testing and design.

+ Support integration between DR and other Operational Resilience components such as Business Continuity, Incident Management, and Risk Reporting.

    Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

+ 6+ years of hands-on experience in Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure Operations, or Systems Engineering.

+ Proven record of executing recovery tests and troubleshooting system-level recovery issues.

+ Demonstrated experience designing and operationalizing frameworks or automation patterns that scale recovery processes.

+ Familiarity with hybrid/cloud recovery concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, on-prem orchestration).

+ Experience leading small, cross-functional technical teams during tests or live events.

    Preferred Skills / Education

+ Strong knowledge of backup, replication, and failover technologies across distributed and mainframe environments.

+ Experience integrating DR with automation/orchestration tools.

+ Familiarity with ITSM and CMDB systems for recovery evidence and dependency tracking.

+ Certifications such as ITIL v4, CBCP, CISSP, or AWS/Azure Architect.

+ Strong technical writing and documentation skills for audit readiness.

+ Recognized for being a builder and doer — capable of designing frameworks, leading tests, and driving measurable improvement.
