    What will you do?

     

    A day in the life of a **Senior Design Manager, Women’s Apparel** at Vans looks a little like this:

     

    Vans is seeking a talented and experienced leader to drive the creative and strategic direction of Vans Women’s Apparel. This elevated role requires a visionary with a deep understanding of the culture, community, and activities that define the Vans lifestyle. You will partner closely with the Head of Design to co-create an authentic, timeless, and intentional brand vision that resonates globally.

    Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more:

    Design Development

    + Lead the design development of Women’s assortments in line with seasonal concepts.

    + Conduct trend and business analysis to inform design decisions.

    + Create sketches, initial tech packs, fit direction, fabric selection and developments.

    + Allocate colors, develop washes and finishes, and manage submit and bulk approvals.

    + Maintain an “always-on” mindset, initiating 360° development and innovation for the Women’s category.

    Team Leadership

    + Manage and inspire the Women’s Apparel Design team through seasonal collections and special projects.

    + Mentor and guide designers, fostering creativity, collaboration, and strategic thinking.

    + Establish efficient work practices through calendar management, process improvements, and tool optimization.

    + Cultivate a collaborative and innovative environment within the team.

    + Coach and develop team members to design authentic, emotive product for the Vans customer.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    + Partner with regional and global cross-functional teams (Merchandising, Product Development, Technical Design, Consumer Insights, etc.) to facilitate the GTM collection pipeline.

    + Oversee the process from pre-season research and development, design and cost-engineering, to bulk approvals.

    + Engage a continuous improvement mindset—finding ways to deliver speed to market, leverage materials and ideas across Men’s, Women’s, and Kids, and maintain deep connection with key partners.

    + Ensure alignment and effective communication across all teams involved.

     

    What do you need to succeed?

While formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your **10+ years of experience and professional achievements** .

    The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

    + Ability to translate insights and inspiration into compelling apparel concepts.

    + Deep understanding of the cultural, athletic, archival, and design influences that shape the Vans brand.

    + Ability to conduct trend analysis and market research to inform design decisions.

    + Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.

    + Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.

    + Strong leadership and team management skills.

    + Excellent organizational and planning abilities.

    + Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Hiring Range** **:

    $138,240.00 USD - $172,800.00 USD annually

     

    **Incentive Potential** : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
