Job Summary and Qualifications
The Director of Provider Education & Professional Development is responsible for executing the strategic direction of provider education in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards. This role oversees the development, delivery, and evaluation of orientation and continuing education programs for providers, supports and cultivates a collaborative team of educators, and ensures programs meet accreditation requirements. The Director also establishes systems to measure program effectiveness and uses performance data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement and enhance clinical readiness.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Implement and maintain standardized provider orientation and education programs that align with regulatory, accreditation, and clinical quality requirements.
+ Monitor and report on key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of education programs in improving provider performance, patient outcomes, and safety.
+ Lead continuous improvement efforts through program evaluation, stakeholder feedback, and application of evidence-based education practices.
+ Ensure consistent and high-quality onboarding experience for physicians and advanced practice providers (APPS) across facilities.
+ Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to align education initiatives with service excellence and patient experience goals.
+ Support provider readiness and competency to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
+ Manage the infrastructure and delivery of provider development programs to promote engagement, retention, and career progression.
+ Build and maintain collaborative relationships across departments to coordinate and unify education efforts.
+ Supervise and mentor a team of educators, fostering leadership development and supporting succession planning.
+ Operationalize and scale education programs to support new service lines, facility growth, and academic partnerships.
+ Integrate technology and innovation (e.g., simulation, digital learning) to enhance education delivery and accessibility.
+ Contribute to workforce development strategies by supporting provider integration and development as a retention tool.
+ Optimize local education resources and processes to improve efficiency and consistency across sites.
+ Manage departmental budgets, ensuring responsible use of resources while balancing enterprise standards with local needs.
+ Up to 25% travel may be required
What you need for this role:
+ Master’s degree in nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Organizational Development or a related healthcare field, required.
+ Doctorate Degree (e.g., DNP, PhD, EdD, or equivalent), based on professional background and scope of practice, preferred.
+ Current and active licensure in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations for the designated role (e.g., RN, APRN, PA), including compact licensure where applicable, required.
+ National certification appropriate to the role (e.g., board certification for APRNs and PAs), preferred.
+ Additional certifications in leadership, education, or healthcare improvement (e.g., NEA-BC, CHSE, FACHE) are strongly preferred.
+ 7+ years’ experience in acute care, required.
+ 3+ years’ experience in a leadership role, required.
+ 3+ years’ experience in clinical education, professional development, graduate medical education or academic-practice integration, required.
+ Proven track record in leading clinical change initiatives, including practice transformation, workforce development, and competency-based education, required.
+ ability to travel up to 25%
