Summary:
The Project Cost Specialist is responsible for the initial development of estimated project cost and the estimate updates through the project lifecycle. In addition, they will develop cost risk mitigation action plans to correct negative trends in the schedule.
Total Rewards:
A typical starting range for this position is $75,000 - $103,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate with project managers to prepare, develop, maintain, and evaluate project costs for transmission and substation projects.
• Prepare the initial project cost estimate based on historical costs and unit cost estimate, inclusive of capital labor, material, and equipment costs, retirement costs, and contingency funding for project manager’s review.
• Assist in developing the project budget, forecast, and cash flow analysis.
• Prepare and assess cost analysis reports (CARs) for necessary projects to support project manager’s financial decisions.
• Maintain the project estimating tools for transmission’s use with the latest estimating information.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships to support effective business processes and methods in a manner that promotes and demonstrates teamwork and supports GRE culture initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 1-3 years of experience with project scheduling and cost controls, along with financial analysis experience.
OR
• Two-year degree in business or related field and 3-5 years of experience with project scheduling and cost controls along with financial analysis experience.
• Must have or be able to quickly gain proficiency in Primavera P6 software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of project scheduling software, preferably Primavera, as applied to transmission & substation project planning, design and construction standard utility practice.
• Knowledge of cost risk mitigation techniques.
• Skill in developing and delivering effective presentations.
• Ability to perform critical path analysis of project schedules and propose changes to keep projects on track.
• Ability to analyze and monitor the performance of multiple and varied projects concurrently.
• Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize time and workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to self-motivate, working independently and as part of a team.
