Job Summary and Qualifications
The **AVP of Provider Education & Professional Development** leads the strategic vision and execution of provider education, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. This role oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of orientation and ongoing education programs for providers, fosters a collaborative and high-performing educator team, and establishes systems to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement through data and feedback.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Establish and sustain enterprise standards for provider orientation and ongoing education that align with regulatory, accreditation, and clinical quality requirements.
+ Implement metrics to measure the impact of orientation and professional development on provider performance, patient outcomes, and safety.
+ Drive continuous improvement through evaluation, feedback loops, and evidence-based education practices.
+ Ensure a consistent, seamless onboarding and integration experience for all physicians and APPs across the enterprise.
+ Partner with clinical and operational leaders to align educational programs with service excellence and patient experience priorities.
+ Support provider readiness to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
+ Lead the strategy and infrastructure for provider development, foster engagement, retention, and long-term career growth.
+ Cultivate collaborative relationships across a highly matrixed structure to unify orientation and professional development efforts system wide.
+ Develop and mentor a high-performing education team, ensuring leadership capacity and succession planning.
+ Scale enterprise education programs to support organizational expansion, new service lines, and academic/clinical partnerships.
+ Leverage innovation and technology (simulation, digital learning, analytics) to modernize and expand provider education.
+ Position provider integration and development as a strategic differentiator in workforce recruitment and retention.
+ Optimize education infrastructure and resources to achieve efficiency and system-wide standardization.
+ Align investment in provider orientation and development with measurable returns in productivity, retention, and reduced turnover costs.
+ Manage budgets responsibly, balancing enterprise standardization with local needs.
What you will need:
+ Master’s degree in nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Organizational Development or a related healthcare field, required.
+ Doctorate Degree (e.g., DNP, PhD, EdD, or equivalent), based on professional background and scope of practice, preferred.
+ Current and active licensure in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations for the designated role (e.g., RN, APRN, PA), including compact licensure where applicable, required.
+ National certification appropriate to the role (e.g., board certification for APRNs and Pas, preferred
+ Additional certifications in leadership, education, or healthcare improvement (e.g., NEA-BC, CHSE, FACHE) are strongly preferred
+ 10+ years’ experience in acute care, required.
+ 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role, required.
+ 5+ years’ experience in clinical education, professional development, graduate medical education or academic-practice integration, required.
+ Proven track record in leading clinical change initiatives, including practice transformation, workforce development, and competency-based education, required.
+ Up to 25% travel, required.
