    This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 20-25 hours per week)

     

    Temporary Education Program Assistant 1 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement’s Extension Malheur County Office with Oregon State University ( OSU ).

     

    The position supports Oregon State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences within the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences as part of a USDA National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program ( NADPRP ) initiative. The Education Program Assistant will play a key role in implementing educational components of the project by assisting with coordination, outreach, curriculum support, and event logistics. The position contributes directly to the project’s goal of enhancing animal disease preparedness through stakeholder engagement and targeted educational efforts across Oregon. Responsibilities include maintaining communication with collaborators, supporting the development and distribution of training materials, assisting in data collection for reporting, and helping ensure timely progress on project deliverables.

    What We Require

    High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults OR Associate Degree and one year of work experience (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions. AND Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications. Incumbent must successfully complete a criminal background check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position.

     

    What You Will Need

     

    This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

    What We Would Like You to Have

    + Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Agribusiness, Animal Science, or a closely related field.

    + Direct experience working on a confined animal feeding operation.

    + Experience implementing or supporting biosecurity practices in livestock operations.

    + Experience working with confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs).

    + Experience with both extensive and intensive cattle production systems.

    + Experience writing and using geospatial information system tools to generate maps.

    + Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

    + Current Beef Quality Assurance ( BQA ) certification.

    + Experience contributing to or writing secure beef and/or secure milk supply plans.

    Working Conditions / Work Schedule

    Work performed during the 25-hour work week may be performed outdoors in rough and rugged high desert environments. It may include overnight stays for trips to operations and/or professional development opportunities.
