Job Title: Field EngineerJob Description
The Field Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent by managing various field activities and ensuring project success. This position involves exercising judgment and discretion in making recommendations, implementing policies and procedures, and handling diverse matters in the field. The Field Engineer is responsible for project layout, supervision of trade workers and subcontractor employees, and ensuring safety and quality control.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct project layout (surveying) in accordance with design and contract documents.
+ Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction before concrete placement.
+ Perform production trend analysis and report for weekly and monthly schedule and cost control reports.
+ Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners as delegated by the project superintendent.
+ Coordinate material deliveries, inspect materials for quantity, quality, and condition, and report missing or damaged items.
+ Assist foreman and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
+ Oversee trade partners and direct workforces to gain supervisory experience.
+ Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
+ Coordinate during project schedule development and review construction drawings and specifications.
+ Conduct civil and structural constructability analysis.
+ Assist with project layout planning and site planning.
+ Verify control points and benchmarks established by third-party licensed surveyors.
+ Verify site utility structures, rim elevations, and run locations.
+ Compile field engineering-specific as-builts and turnover documentation.
+ Submit records of engineering team project hours and maintain control of field engineering equipment.
+ Report unsafe conditions immediately and enforce compliance with all field engineering personnel.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Trimble GPS, Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and Total Station.
+ Experience with Robotics - Trimble S5 (4+ years).
+ Software for modeling - Carlson Survey (4+ years).
+ Ability to interpret and verify construction drawings across disciplines (architectural, structural, civil, MEP).
+ Deep understanding of civil and structural systems for constructability analysis.
+ Knowledge of plumbing, drainage, and utility systems for site utility coordination.
+ Familiarity with foundation systems, including piers, grade beams, slab edges, depressions, and block-outs.
+ Experience with Tilt Wall Systems, including embeds, anchor points, and erection tolerances.
+ Experience working with licensed surveyors to establish benchmarks and control points.
+ Ability to verify elevations, lines, and grades for foundations, utilities, and structural elements.
+ Proficiency in verifying anchor bolts, embeds, slab edges, and structural alignment.
+ Ensuring MEP leave-outs and penetrations align with drawings and field conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ OSHA 10 certification.
+ Ability to explore and update on emerging technologies, techniques, and procedures.
Work Environment
The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 7 am to 4 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed. Initially, you will receive mileage reimbursement while on contract terms, and upon direct hire, access to a company truck will be provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
