    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of HVAC and Plumbing systems, performing design computations, equipment selection, and preparing specifications. This role requires collaboration with various disciplines to achieve a coordinated design and involves both fieldwork and office-based tasks.

    Plumbing (required):

    + Provide technical design support for plumbing drawing production utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit for a wide variety of building types.

    + Knowledge should extend to hot and cold domestic water, waste, and vent, storm water and natural gas systems, selection of appropriate fixtures, drains, and equipment. Individuals should also have a understanding of how to route plumbing systems and size appropriately.

    + Apply standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings in support of assigned projects, ensuring designs conform to company standards, recognized codes, and client requirements.

    + Prepare schedules, details, and fixture equipment specifications, as well as perform load calculations.

    + Conduct initial site investigations and observe work completed by installing contractors.

    + Research, design, and evaluate plumbing products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements and apply knowledge of engineering principles.

    HVAC (preferred):

    + Provide technical design support for HVAC drawing production utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit for a wide variety of building types. Ensure designs conform to recognized codes, standards, and client requirements.

    + Analyze and resolve design and production issues.

    + Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and final construction drawings, as well as prepare layouts for detailing.

    + Research, design, and evaluate HVAC gas, chiller and other products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements while applying knowledge of engineering principles.

    + Create energy compliance reports using COMcheck or Title 24.

    Management duties

    + Manage multiple projects concurrently and delegate engineering tasks as appropriate.

    + Proactively ensure that cost, customer service, quality, schedule, and safety are incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.

    + Assist in developing mechanical department engineering processes.

    + Review of project documents for compliance with company standards and procedures.

    + Identify and resolve project issues and risks.

    + Review contractor submittals (shop drawings) to determine compliance with contract documents.

    + Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel to complete tasks and meet project deadlines.

    + Participate in meetings with owners, clients, and architects as needed. Represent the firm in a professional manner, garnering client confidence and respect.

    + Proactively pursue continued education, training, certifications, and opportunities to network within the industry. Stay up to date on code changes, industry trends, and technical tools.

    + Mentor entry-level or intern staff and provide guidance.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum 2 years of experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing systems.

    + Proficiency in Revit.

    + Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Familiarity with current mechanical codes and standards.

    + Strong communication skills for effective collaboration.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
