Job Title: Loads Engineer
Job Description
Perform analyses and simulations to compute aircraft design loads in support of new aircraft design studies and ensure the continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft. Utilize a wide range of commercial and in-house tools, including a six-degree of freedom aircraft simulator. Use engineering judgment to perform Verification and Validation of analysis results. Prepare and maintain finite element models for loads analysis. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines such as Flight Characteristics, Structures, Mass Properties, Systems, and Fly-By-Wire. Support aircraft landing gear development, analysis, and testing, as well as flight testing and result post-processing. Contribute to in-service engineering to address aircraft issues, and present analyses and findings in engineering certification reports and presentations in English.
Responsibilities
+ Perform analyses and simulations to compute aircraft design loads.
+ Utilize commercial and in-house tools for load computations.
+ Perform Verification and Validation of analysis results.
+ Prepare and maintain finite element models for loads analysis.
+ Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
+ Support aircraft landing gear development, analysis, and testing.
+ Support flight testing and post-process results.
+ Contribute to in-service engineering and present findings in reports and presentations.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
+ At least 8 years of experience in external loads analyses in the aerospace industry.
+ Good understanding of FAR 25 certification requirements.
+ Experience in static and dynamic aeroelastic loads analyses.
+ Experience in developing FEM models and computing airframe and component design loads.
+ Proficiency in using Nastran for Dynamic/Aeroelastic analysis.
+ Good understanding of FEM, unsteady aerodynamics, and frequency-based data analysis.
+ Advanced programming knowledge in Matlab, Python, C/C++, and Linux/Windows scripting.
+ Good organizational skills and ability to complete tasks within budget and on schedule.
+ Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Higher education in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
+ Experience with DMAP is an asset.
Work Environment
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, in an engineering office setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $105.00/hr.
